Switzerland May/June 2025
I spent several weeks in Wettswil, the German part of Switzerland, where I grew up and where I still have family and friends. Wettswil is a village with a population of over 5,000, located roughly thirty minutes by car, bus, or train from the city of Zurich. I had a wonderful time, and the weather fully cooperated this time. In fact, it was almost too hot for a few weeks, but I was lucky to have a pool to cool down in. Here are a few pictures of the area around my home.
During the hot days, the pool was a godsend.
In the mornings, it was cool in the forest where I went for my daily walk.
My other favorite walk was alongside the ponds in the neighborhood. Many decades ago, the ponds were part of brickyards and a brick factory. When the factory closed, they transformed the brickfields into ponds and put them under nature conservation. It’s a lovely area, full of fish, birds, plants, and flowers, the perfect spot for walks.
And here are a few pics of Zurich, one of my favorite cities. It’s about 20 minutes away from Wettswil by train, bus, or car.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. I also took a trip with a friend of mine to Schwyz, one of the original cantons (states) of Switzerland. More on that later.
